Dubbed for a lower rating.

Did anyone else notice the dodgy tv edit dubbing in this? We get the one F bomb, but it looks like there were ALOT more. Check out the scene where Lucero calls Brian a SCREW UP (Bobby Nguyens house), three obvious dubs. Also when Brian trashes the table and says DAMN IT, but it sounds out of place. Straight after, when Brian's at Vinhs grave, he calls himself a SCREW UP, and he VERY obviously mouths something else. I'm guessing it was decided at the last minute that this was family friendly. Although the blood splashed car window, the F bomb and the lesser language still make this borderline for '89.

When Brian says "being blown up in a nuclear war" it also sounds dubbed. Would be great to get an uncensored version of this movie.

Yeah. Doubtful though, it was released on DVD by a VERY low key distributor in the UK. The way I understand it, the US release is a vanilla release as well.

Think it would take a MAJOR interest in Slater to change the above. If the original cut even exists anymore.

I have both DVD versions and they are both dubbed, the only difference is the US is open matte so there is more picture at the top and bottom of the screen. When I recorded it off TV back in the early 90s there were even more edits. The bloodsplat scene, the F-bomb and some of the strangling scene were all removed.

The US DVD that I have does have some promotional material from back in the day (interviews, behind the scenes footage etc...). I know an uncensored version would be unlikely to emerge even if it still exists but here's hoping.

Yeah, the PG 13 rating was a very strange entity in its first 10 years or so. A lot of movies filmed for an R audience got watered down audio in post production to fill its guidelines, and ended up looking silly (Gleaming the cube, Kuffs, and Crocodile dundee especially), you suddenly don't enjoy the film as much.

We can keep hoping for a full edit, but the chances of a low budget film like this beibg preserved are almost certainly zero.

Drag.
