Venkman makes the joke about Ray and Egon sleeping with the mood slime to try to elicit positive reactions from it and Ray's side look to Egon gives them away that Egon, had in fact, been sleeping with it. Venkman calls him a "hound" and Winston says, "It's always the quiet ones!"

My question is, what exactly do you think Egon was doing with the slime while "sleeping with it"? I figure he was either literally sleeping with it - cuddling with a container of it while asleep in bed, holding a container of it and speaking to it while masturbating, or actually using the slime itself to masturbate with, as if it was lube.

Just something silly I've always wondered, lol. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!

PS. I'm sure this had been discussed before but I went through a few pages and couldn't see it, so I figured I'd just ask.

I think we as adults have to only imagine what they did in terms of sleeping with the mood slime.i was a kid when i saw this and this scene went over my head...

Yeah pretty much, as a kid you think, "Oh yeah, that's just silly, why would you sleep with it?" and then as an adult you're like, "Ohhhh, riiiight!" Lol 😇

It's a joke that's definitely aged well. I know this movie is just a retread but gosh darn it, it's just too much fun! Plus the nostalgia is very strong for me. I saw this in a drive-in as a double feature with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in the summer of 1989. I was 10 and it was amazing.

I don't think I ever thought there was anything wrong with that line, and I'm not sure I can remember it.

I'm sure I'll notice it now though, it sounds a bit suspicious!

It can act as a lube down below, play music or something and it'll give you a "hand"... That was what i had in mind when Peter asked if he's sleeping with it..lol...
