Why did the kids choosed He-Man instead of any 80's icon?
how can those kids favor He-Man over the Ghostbusters in 1989? couldn't they ask for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the 1987 cartoon?

shareA podcast I listen to pointed out that it might have been a playful jab at Filmation, the company who made He-Man, and that other Ghost Busters cartoon. ;)
shareTerrorTribble is right, I read a youtube comment that purported the same theory. Now that you think of it, makes sense.
shareGoing back to the OP's question: I was 6 in 1989, and I remember watching He-Man when I was 3-4 years old, and it was still shown in reruns. So it didn't seem that outdated at the time.
shareCause He-Man *beep* rocks?
shareNow really, do you really want a guy like He-man who's shirtless and some kind of macho with musscles show up at a kid's birthday party?
