I do like the film but...

Ray, Egon, and Peter deciding to dig a hole in the middle of the street was kind of a dumb plan.

It was, but they're infamous for making some pretty stupid decisions in both films. It's all about dumb luck for the team when it all boils down to it.

For example, in the original, they put three mortgages on a firehouse that they could barely afford. Imagine if their business wasn't lucrative. They would be stuck paying for an entire building for 30 years. Either that or, face possible foreclosure. What could they do, sell it to the FDNY?

I suppose the biggest of them all is when Egon repeatedly warns them not to cross the streams but, in the end of the original, they do it anyhow.

As for drilling a hole in the middle of the street: It worked because they managed to discover the River of Slime. I still laugh at the fact that Ray started becoming paranoid, and managed to knock out an entire city's power. Only in a film such as this would it be plausible.

While the sequel was kinda dumbed-down for a kid-friendlier audience, I'll always love it. Maybe not as much as the original, but it'll always hold a special place in my heart.

BTW, awesome signature. They should have kept that line in the movie.
