Why is this one rated R? anybody?

thanx in advance.

reply

I believe the rule still applies that if the "f"-word is spoken more than one time, the MPAA board automatically assigns an "R" rating.

reply

Why is Baker Boys rated R? Is it because we live in a backward, repressed, neo-puritan plutocracy of hypocrisy where appearance always trumps substance? Or maybe the people at the MPAA just have their heads permanently lodged someplace the sun don't shine.

You'd think that with an R-rating this movie would be something very different than what it is. Just compare this film to Rush or Spun, both of which also got an R rating.

I haven't seen this film, does it contain nude scenes?

reply

A simple "because it has boobs and some raw language" would do. Also, because knowledge is power--If I see an R, I can decide for my child if she should see it now or when she is more mature. Your bloviating about neo-puritans and hypocrisy is just that--air. The rating system helps people and it's infinitely better than the old production code nonsense that had the government deciding if a movie got wide distribution or not.

One brief flash of a breast and many F bombs, I would imagine??? Just watched it the other day.....we had the same thought, that today it would be PG-13.

I think you get one, maybe two "F's" and an upper frontal and you're done, it's R-time.

there is one breast in the first three inutes of the film. remember the girl Jack wakes up with before she says "You got good hands" and the credits roll??? that and the major use of the f word (eyes rolling---whatever) why more people have not seen this film and recognized it for its supreme writing, acting, and cinematography is beyond me....

Honestly there should have been a better banging scene on the piano, so perhaps the raters just gave it what it should have been.
