Sequel?

Last night on Inside the Actor's Studio, Michelle said she has been trying to convince Steve Kloves to make a sequel, where we see what happened to these three characters. I really like this movie, and a sequel could be fun, but the more I think about it, maybe they shouldn't make one. I'd hate to see something half-assed.

But if Steven Kloves wrote and directed it, it would live up to the first one. He is brilliant. Plus it would renew interest in the original, which was not given the respect or audience it deserved when it was originally released. i remember. i was one of only FOUR in the theatre.

She wants a sequel... Back in 2003, according to imdb trivia, Jeff bridges said he'd do a sequel as well... what the hell's stopping them???

I think a sequel to one of the best films made in the 80's would be a dumb idea. We all know that Frank is now teaching piano lessons to the kids on his block and Jack is finally playing music that he likes and is dating Susie Diamond who sings jingles for commercials. All the loose ends were tied up and there is no need to continue this story. The only plauable thing I can think that would make the sequel work 20 plus years later is that the Baker Boys reunite to play a benefit concert and for some strange reason they become more successful then they were back in the day and in the process fight and become miserable and lose everything that made them happy prior to their recent success. Basically a story that teaches us that all is well when we think it is not. This probably why a sequel would be dumb. What do you think?

As much as I love this movie, the time has passed for a sequel. I don't want the magic of FBB ruined. Let's leave it alone and cherish this movie for what it is: brilliance.

Almost 3 years some months after this thread started I finally saw this film for the first time and really loved it. I do like a nice character film once and a while and this one really pulled me in! As for a sequel I am torn yes it would be fun to drop in and see all these characters I grew to care about years later, but at the same time so many sequels just don't capture the magic of the first film and really don't do much to carry on the story. Although there are times sequels are better than the films that spawn them. So hey if it happens it happens either way I am satisfied with the story that was presented.

I would like to see a sequel solely for the purpose of Jeff Bridges living in a grossly under-rated role again. Man, his combination of subtle cool creepy sexy a-hole, just SO believable.
