i think that is one of the coolest opening shots ever, and it set the tone for the whole film. and they caught it at magic hour, just perfect timing.

w/o a doubt one ot the ten most memorable films ive ever seen
The same building can be seen in the satellite and street views if you search for "vine and 1st ave seattle wa" in Google Maps. There is no date on the satellite image (the copyright date is just the current year, not the date of the image), but the street view photograph says it was from May 2008. None of the signage seen in the movie (which may have just been props/set decorations) are seen on the building as it stood when the more recent photos were taken.
