Michelle Pfeiffer's performance in this film is iconic. One of the best.

for what?

Her most decent role is in 'One Fine Day', she did a hellva job in that. But here she was 'mehhh.' I think it was the lack of the script writing.

*Put the blame on mame!*

"One Fine Day?"

Out of this, Scarface, Dangerous Liasons, and Frankie and Johnny, you pick "One Fine Day" as Pfeiffer's seminal work?

Perhaps FBB, being primarily character- and not plot-driven, was not your cup of tea, but that's no reason to lump it with standard, treacly rom-com payday vehicles like One Fine Day (which was not, by the way, horrible; it just wasn't particularly outstanding, either).

There was no way she could beat Jessica Tandy in "Driving Miss Daisy."

reply

Especially since Pfeiffer was borderline supporting and Tandy was the actual lead in her movie.

I'm of the camp that found the film and Pfieffer's performance meh. Neither was bad, but they weren't extraordinary, either.

I don't agree with the second sentence but this is why I came online. I didn't just recently watch the movie but first thing is first: Jeff Bridges is obviously the central character. Pfeiffer is arguably a secondary lead, but I can't exactly come to terms with her being a lead and Beau being supporting.

reply

mediocre acting and her "singing" was overhyped

reply

Yeah, her character's supposed to be this awesome singer who's slumming it in the lounge, but Pfeiffer can't really sing.
