It's truly a shame that this song came out after the death of Jimi Hendrix. Just imagine if he could have performed Feelings at Woodstock.

reply

That would have been interesting.

It is quite funny that they made fun of this "old standard" and then she turned around and made it WOW!
I guess it is a good song after all!

all of my movies are listed under "Must See" because YOU must.

I wish Michelle Pfeiffer would do more vocals. I agree, the song itself it a bit of a sleeper, but put in Michelle's vocals and now I am awake!!

People made fun of this song after Carol Burnett sang it as Eunice on The Carol Burnett show. Eunice made it to the Gong show and sang "Feelings" very badly and was quickly gonged. She was humiliated, but it was very funny. I can not hear that song without flashing on C.B. as Eunice moaning the lyrics,"Feelings, nothing more than feelings, whoa, whoa." It was hysterically funny.

The song was overplayed in the 70's, particularly by lounge acts. Consequently, it fell in stature to become the "standard" for low class. That's why they ridicule the song in the movie. Without Suzie, the FBB *were* essentially a lounge act. Frank was okay with that. He wanted to cater to the lounge lizards, anything for a buck. Jack felt it beneath him.

Seriously, the song has a nice melody and is catchy, but it is a very simple and redundant song. Not a lot to it. That's one reason why when overplayed - it grows tiresome.

That's interesting, I did not know that. I love this movie. I would have loved for Michelle to release an album, but she never has and probably isn't interested. It's a shame, I love her voice, and it just makes her all the sexier that she can sing like that!

"Come with me if you want to live!"

Swendler, I basically couldn't agree with you more!

I loved it when I heard it the first time but like you said: a simple song, with a catchy melody, no excitement after the first 1-2 times you hear it, worn out.

I myself used to play in a restaurant. During that time I got to dislike this song deeply... Sometimes in the late hours a guy with a few drinks under his belt approached me, "bro, play us the Feelings, will you?" And I played and he sang it out of tune. Oh boy...

Come to think of it, I agree with what Susie D. said in the film (anyone please correct me if I remember this wrong): does anyone really need to hear Feelings anymore?

"Feelings" was a 1975 song by Morris Albert that was syrupy and awful. It was played constantly and mocked by comedians.

There was an episode of "The Gong Show" where every contestant played "Feelings" horribly (either vocals or instrumentals).

That's why she hated signing it and why he hated playing it.

"Does anyone really need to hear 'Feelings' again in their lifetime?"

You were close enough for the gist of it ;))

MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE

There's a word for people who think everyone is conspiring against them.
That's right: perceptive!

Thanks for the answer, I can live with my try. :)

I think very highly of this film too.

This was a pretty good movie, I gave it a 6 and I consider myself a tough scorer. I'd have given it a 7 if Pfeiffer could sing.
