Loadstone meteorite fish compass?

I remember a scene where Erik is in the cave with Freya. She gives him a loadstone meteorite shaped like a fish on a string. Of course, since it's magnetic, it dangles northward when you hold it. Freya explained that it fell from Polaris, so it was pointing at its home.

Then I order this DVD from Britain. No scenes anywhere with any fish compass. I look up the screenplay online, and there was references to use of the fish compass on the ship, but no scene where Erik acquires the fish compass and its explanation.

Are these scenes still in the VHS version of this movie?

I've been watching the Encore movie and she doesn't say anything about the fish. But I did notice Erik wearing the fish when he is giving a goodbye speech to the townspeople.

I'm watching "The Vikings" (1958; Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis, Janet Leigh) right now. I just happened to remember this question on this board.

Are you sure are not confusing the two movies? (How, I don't know) There was a scene on where an old crow gives Tony Curtis a piece of metal shaped like a shark or other fish that "always points north - from where it came, the North Star." She gave it to Tony Curtis's character to navigate in the fog.
