Why was he mad at Nadine after the drugstore heist?

The one they went into at night through the transom when no one was there. Matt Dillon gets mad at Nadine cause she dumps the drugs into the truck and as they drive away he screams "you blew it hot pants" or something like that. Why was he so angry?

The noise of the drawer breaking on the ground spooked bob

reply

yea but he gets mad and calls back the other guy before that

He didn't like Nadine in the first place and second of all Bob thought of himself as a professional when it came to these kinds of jobs and cringed at the sight of Nadine doing it all wrong.

She should have gently placed the whole drawer in the bed of the pick-up if it didn't fit in the cab. Instead she dumps the contents all over floor of the cab, maybe the ground as well, and then tops it off by chucking the drawer in the air causing a good deal of noise when it hit the pavement.

I always though he was so mean to her because she was attracted to her. Then I bought the DVD (I owned the VHS tape for years) and Van Sant and Dillon said the same thing in the commentary.

The way I see it, Bob was the leader of the crew. If any of his troops messed up, it was ultimately his fault. Nadine was young and inexperienced and panicked. Bob should have schooled her better and told her specifically to place the drawer gently in the truck bed (where, even so, the drugs might have flown out onto the street as soon as they started driving away).

Of course, that makes more sense with people who aren't junkies.

I was also pissed at Bob for yelling at Nadine after the first heist. He told her she didn't do s h i t, when she actually did half of the heavy lifting: faking a siezure and providing the distraction while Bob lifted the drugs. Rick and Dianne hardly did any work on that job.

Unc John "We makin' trouble?"
Stacy "Yeah"
Unc John "What kind?"
Stacy "...The forever kind"

She dumps all the *beep* all over the cab of the truck (good luck ditching it if needed) and then makes a racket with the drawer while they were about to break into the safes. She doesn't even seem to be an addict so what is wrong with her and why is she with them in the first place?

reply

I just watched this so it is fresh in my mind. Am pretty sure that as Nadine was taking the drawer of bottles to the truck, Matt Dillon said to James LeGros "Hey, I want you to take a look at these safes here" or something similar. To my understanding, when Nadine made so much noise they were unable to have a "crack" at the safe, which of course made him angry. She made so much noise that they had to leave more quickly than they had wanted to. Plus she was just clumsy and unprofessional. It was obvious then that she would be trouble.

I don't think M.D. was attracted to her. He was more intersted in drugs than sex.

@lavender1905:
I agree with you. Bob wasnt attracted to her. She was a pain for him, very young and extra weight on his crew. She barely contributed anything besides the fake seizure.

He was furious about the night job because she dumped the loot all over the car making a huge mess and it wasn't concealed. Then throws the drawer up in the air so wrecklessly. She was a dumb blonde to the T.

The better question is, why wouldn't he be mad at Nadine? Even if it was for something more trivial, I can't imagine Bob keeping his cool with the seemingly useless member in the group. I mean he didn't think much of her to begin with, so it was only natural that he became furious with her after things went the wrong way.

I usually love Dillon and indie films, but this one bored me. I fast forwarded alot. I never do that. When Nadine died, noone batted an eye, except for Rick. I just didnt think it was fabulous. It was just ok.
