Tragic film

Addicts live like this? Isn't there anything in life other than drugs that brings happiness to drug addicted people? As an alcoholic, I admit that that I miss much, but every beautiful thing life still has to offer is still under my radar.

So what is the difference between two addicted fellows? The alcoholic will spend all he/she has to drink, whereas the druggie will rob, burglarize and kill to get their fix, even go to prison. What happens in prison? Do they still get their drugs?

Wake up all...............it sucks!

To be fair, some, not all addicts live like this. Just in the same way that some alcoholics are miserable, pathetic drunks and others love somewhat regular lives. Honestly tho, one of the biggest differences between the alcoholic and drug addict is legality and ease of obtaining the drug/alcohol.
If it was easier for dope addicts to get opiates at the drugstore say, they'd still be drug addicts but would be more likely to have otherwise productive lives. Some drug addicts wouldn't be productive in the same way that some alcoholics are just miserable drunks living on the street but some would have jobs and responsibilities and otherwise not cause any problems.

Eh, well...believe it or not, I would consider Drugstore Cowboy to actually be a tame film about drug addiction. Compared to other drug films like Requiem for a Dream or Candy. Drugstore Cowboy is a unique drug film. It's not your typical drug addiction film, revolving around darkness and impending doom. Instead, it sort of focuses more on the drug addict's personalities.
