quick question...

I heard that this whole movie was filmed with animals doing whatever they feel like... I liked this very much

But I was watching the movie today and in the credits it listed a large amount of animal trainers.

Someone please explain

I highly doubt that many of those stunts (Otis riding the turtle's back, Milo fishing with his tail, Otis dragging Milo out of the pit with a rope, etc.) would ever come to pass if it wasn't for the animals being trained, let alone having all the stunts together in one film. It's possible that some of the scenes were recorded as the natural behavior of the animal while other scenes were staged, but there's no doubt in my mind that there were many staged scenes.

In that vein, I've seen a lot of people here claiming animal abuse due to the scene where Otis confronts a bear, but it's quite (obvious to me at least) that the bear is trained and though he takes a few playful swipes at the dog, he's trained to restrain himself enough to not cause the dog any harm.
