If everything in this movie happened naturally, with no forced actions..

Everyone said that this movie is the result of taping animals on an island, over a 5 year period, and adding a storyline. So, my question is, did these really naturally happen?:

1. Otis riding the turtle back to shore
2. Milo getting pulled out of a hole by Otis (with a rope)

I find it hard to believe that these things occured naturally, without any direction whatsoever. Anyway, could someone confirm this plz? Thank you.

Many things are natural, but to follow an interesting storyline, some parts were made, and i think that's not wrong because we have seen lassie and white fang and those things, an there's no problem with that.

That is really interesting..
I somehow dont think a turtle would go so close to a dog..
and well.. maybe if the animals were smart enough. The whole movie looks so real it honestly is hard to say isnt it? *smiles*

animals who are raised together will get unnaturally close.

its clear that not everything in this movie occured naturally and that most of the animals were trained to do certain things.

same as in Babe or any other movie involving animal actors

wow that's really interesting

no they don't you fool!!!
i've had dogs, cats, chooks, sheep you name it i've had all raised together and they were not as you say it "unnaturally close".
your a moron!
cleary one of the milo's WAS harmed!!! when the crap bit him.
i hadn't seen the movies in years til today when I found it at my Dad's.
As much as I do like the whoel story line and that it is a good movie I don't agree with the way they went about having bears and crap attack the dog, even if trained bears can easily turn, just like domesticated dogs!!!

as if david hille isn't hot

Hey, my dog (a Jack Russell) and my cat are very close, to the point that I don't know if they actually think that they are the same animal or what! It's hilarious--the snuggle up together to sleep, the cat washes the dogs face, the dog guards the cat while she eats and uses the litter tray, they hang out together, sun themselves together, play together........despite the fact that I have another dog (a Staffy x). You'd think the dogs would pal up and leave the cat to it, but no, they all 3 get along famously. It's just the bigger dog is more of a free spirit.

Again, I argue that some of the stunts are indeed NOT natural. I don't care how close a dog and a turtle get, the turtle isn't going to ferry the dog to shore. It just ain't gonna happen. I think the turtle was forced to do it (maybe the turtle was "attached to" a floating, remote controlled device that made it look as though he was doing the good deed. Can turtles be trained? I have no idea!

Also dogs don't naturally go around rescuing stranded cats with ropes. Unless they're trained to do it.

Cats, despite not really caring to go for a swim, would more than likely jump right out of that floating basket! Unless they're trained to do it.

So, no. I'm of the opinion that most of the animal action was under training and direction, and not natural activity.

Cheers!

2. Actually I think this was clever film making, where Otis never actually pulled Milo out. You could have filmed the Dog playing tug of war with a human, but only showed the dog's part, and then also showed a cat playing with a dangling rope, and then being pulled by a human. You don't really see both interacting in the same scene.
