Maybe an Afghanistan version?

Or could this type of movie even be done these days? A Hollywood movie showing American soldiers as evil? Probably not.

Erm, Brian De Palma already remade it with Redacted. It takes the same premise and places the action in Iraq. Unlike this one though, I'm not sure if the incident is fact or fiction.

This film wasn't very good. Why remake something so mediocre with something that would be equally mediocre or worse?

There's no point. This film was a labor of love for DePalma. He made it. It's done. Few people support remakes, directly or indirectly.
