In my opinion

This film is far superior to "Platoon". And much more powerful. I'm actually surprised that "Platoon" won the Best Picture Oscar.

Both movies provided realistic depictions of war atrocities that have been avoided in American movies until recently. For that fact, I thought they were equally eligible to win the Oscar.

Have you participated in or observed (not in the movies)actual such "war atrocities" or are you just pretending that you know what "realistic depictions of war atrocities" are?

reply

Well can I just state, in regards to Vietnam War films, that 'Full Metal Jacket' should've been nominated for Best Picture of 1987 instead of 'Fatal Attraction', which was an utterly ridiculous and undeserved choice for a Best Picture nomination.

I agree 100%.

reply

Thanks. AND Kubrick should've received a Best Director nod over freakin Adrian Lyne!

I agree again. Stanley Kubrick is a legend and should always be nominated when possible.

I can tell you why Platoon won the oscar and CoW did not...Music. That is all you need to win an Oscar...An amazing film score.

But Ennio Morricone, one of the greatest film composers of all time, did do the score for COW.
