Could have been a minor masterpiece, if not for the ending
I'm sure I'm not the first to complain about it, but really... talk about mood whiplash.
I went in completely blind. Around halfway through it I was already thinking, "okay, this is amazing, but the ending might still ruin the whole thing."
I thought it might explain everything, and tie it all up with a neat little bow, so credit where it's due, I guess – it certainly didn't do that.
But still... ending such a masterful piece of psychological tension and low-key yet creeping and all-pervading weirdness in such an outright cheesy, schlocky way seemed like a huge waste to me.
