Why do they pronounce their names correctly at th end?
They pronounced Socrates correctly at the end, even though they mispronounced it throughout the whole movie, what's up with that?

shareAt first they mispronounced it because they were just dumb. As they got to know him, even know they learned how to pronounce it correctly, they continued to pronounce it "phonetically" as a joke between friends. During their history report, because it was a formal event, they had to pronounce it correctly.
shareWhen they first go to Ancient Greece, they overhear mention of Socrates.
Bill: "Socrates ... hey we know that name!"
Ted: "Here look it up! It's under So-crates"
Both of them originally knew how to pronounce his name properly as they recognized Socrates as his name. It was only when they went to print format that they started using So-crates. I guess they thought either was correct?
So-crates was maybe how they remembered it fully or because they saw it in print and it stuck better. Also it is funnier.
Character development.

A possible nod to the allegorical nature (and moral) of the film, to work hard and immerse yourself in the subject brings knowledge.
