What I see Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure as is a cross between Wayne's World and Back To The Future. Bill and Ted are much like Garth and Wayne going on a time traveling adventure although in a phone booth not a Delorean, and BTTF is darker. Bill & Ted's is more lighthearted and fun although they're both classified as comedies.

shareNo one who made Bill & Ted would have seen Wayne's World yet. First Wayne's World on SNL was February 1989. Bill & Ted premiered the same month, but Bill & Ted was filmed in 1987 and written a year before that. The film sat on the shelf for awhile.
shareWhen i was like 5 years old i watched the Bill and Ted Cartoon but in my mind i assumed they were Wayne and Garth and that the Wayne's World movie was about Wayne and Garth getting a time traveling Payphone so it was a bit of an adjustment once i graduated to the movies
