Rufus rescuing the two princesses

At the end of the film Rufus returns with the two princesses, he says he had to rescue them so they wouldn't get married to those "royal ugly dudes". But why? Was it fair for them to be forced to leave their true home 'medieval England' for San Dimas 1988? Would they not be freaked out by being in the future and feel out of place? Does anyone else understand this? You could say that they got all of the historical figures and bring them to San Dimas? But the difference is that they eventually returned to their respective 'years/homes' after the presentation.

I get why there were rescued but does anyone else just feel that the ending was slightly flawed?

Its explained better in the second movie. Rufus obviously knew way more about the princesses and what importance they also would have for Bill & Ted's future.
But with the first movie here, its obvious that Rufus already knew that the two princesses also was a part of
Bill & Ted's band Wyld Stallyns, since he tells that they do get better when the 4 of them play so dreadful at the end of the movie.

There is a bit when they are in the princesses time and they dial a number and it says this number is unavailable or something like that I wonder if that was because Rufus was coming back in time to rescue the princesses and they couldn't use whatever number they dialled because they would have collided with Rufus coming back in time

The princesses were to be married off to those two "royal ugly dudes", so if they'd stayed in their own time, they would have been doomed to a life of utter misery despite their royal standing. They were most likely happy when Rufus came to rescue them from that fate, so they probably weren't too concerned about where they were going so long as it was far enough away that they wouldn't be found and possibly imprisoned within the castle for running away. Besides, it's not like they couldn't have returned to their time at some point if they wished; Rufus probably would have obliged, albeit reluctantly...

I thought the ending was fitting for the movie. Bill and Ted pass the exam, save the future, and get the girls. Super happy.

Royal Ugly Dudes suck.

reply

Rufus asks the princesses for their autograph, saying they are members of the band.

It was meant to be. Rufus was just ensuring his society's perfect future by bringing them to Bill and Ted's present.

reply

Yeah. Otherwise they wouldn't have clean dirt!

XD

They said they were going to rescue them. So Rufus did for them.

Rufus is from the future, he knew how the saga of Bill and Ted played out including his role. The princesses were part of the band so he knew their destiny was to go to the future.
