carlin's times as Rufus are probably the only ones in his life when he wasn't acting like a raving, foulmouthed, immoral, God-hating scumbag lunatic.
In other words, Rufus is antithetical to everything carlin stood for. So why did carlin agree to play him?

He didn't run around like Dawkins or Hitchens debating clergy and preachers. Every time he was interviewed or made a public statement he didn't throw in a jab at "God". He simply expressed how moronic it was to follow an organized religion like a sensible, logical, critical thinking man. Fanatic, pfft. You know not the meaning of the word. It sounds more like you are offended by his stance.

In 2013 Alex Winter commented on Carlin's casting: "He was a very happy accident. They were going after serious people first. Like Sean Connery. And someone had the idea, way after we started shooting, of George. That whole movie was a happy accident. No one thought it would ever see the light of day."
Because the movie has an underline message that we don't need God

A perfect example is Bob Saget who generally plays wholesome morale characters while in real life being extremely vulgar and crude. I don’t know why God is even being discussed in this thread when the film itself doesn’t touch on religion. In fact the sequel shows heaven, hell, and satan so it does confirm three aspects of Christianity.

Carlin was a douche - starting and for a long time, continuing his act as a sellout conformist, until he decided to become 'edgy' - that's not his natural character, he just made a -decision- to change.
He dressed in black, was really foul-mouth, was wrong about so many things, didn't understand what a 'human being' is, and so on. He did have some funny jokes, though, but he was a misandrist, always insulting men way more than women, and for no reason as well. He thinks feminists have a 'philosophy' and he agrees with them - admittedly!
Well, maybe not anymore, but at least he did.
He's just a failure of a human being greedy for money and a lust for being as demonic on stage as possible - and yet always careful not to hurt those in power, women, and the 'wealthy people that own the country' that he tactically NEVER names - what a coward!
Other people at least dare say the name Rotschild, but not Carlin. He speaks in very roundabout ways, is very vague about whom he blames, and so on.
I think his worst crime is, that aside from a couple of funny jokes and an incredible memory for lists of trivial things, he just wasn't funny. Not in his conformist days, not in his edgy days. The only thing he really accomplished was to test the limits and hypocrisy of censorship and then just make 8000 jokes about language and words (yawn).
His whole 'Earth and plastic' bit couldn't be more insulting, this planet is VERY polluted, and the magnetic field is not entirely stable, but sure, pretend that it can't be destroyed. As if it's not a big deal if people of this planet will be completely wiped out. Another planet in this solar system was already destroyed by people like him.. can you imagine what he would've done if he had his hands on some powerful weapons launch codes..? Would you trust him to not use those codes to mass-murder half the planet (or all of it, if possible)?
