How long was that lamp electric cord? [spoilers]

So, did anyone else notice the cable on the lamp was about 300ft long? I mean, it's bad enough having the lamp stand on the far end of the room while the cable strangles the housekeeper... maybe 20ft or so there.

But when the grandmother throws the lamp out the window and we see it falling down the cliffside, and the cable is still round the priest's arm... it must have been falling for like 10 whole seconds... it would have hit the beach long before it needed to be cut to save the priest.

That whole scene should be like this:
Priest: "Help, the cables got me and is gonna drag me out with the lamp"
*smash sound as lamp hits beach*
Priest (still in the attic): "Wait, what!?"
