Anyone heard about season's 2 and 3 comong to DVD yet?

Ok, it's been about what 2 years or so now since the first season release? It's really disappointing that they only released season one and not the rest of them.

reply

sometimes they release the 1rst season just to see the response about puttng out a 2nd or more. I for one hadnt even heard that this went to dvd.. :( or I might have bought it but since season 2 and 3 havent come out whats the point.. sad. funny I was just thinking about this show today and wondering if it ever came out on dvd.

reply

I agree w/ you that if they were not going to release season 2 and 3 then they shouldn't have released season 1. I love the episodes more from season 2 and 3 compared to season 1. Email me if you hear of an websites selling episodes of season 2 and 3. thank you.

What they (whoever's in charge of DVD release) could do, is like with Deadwood, have a set with all three seasons in one box and maybe have a complimentary toy horse with a rider on it or something instead of the deck of cards and poker chips. I'd buy it even though I already have Season 1.

reply

The first season can now be bought at Wal-mart in a boxed set with the first season of The Magnificent Seven for $19.99

reply

I believe that the company that released this series on DVD also released the Magnificent Seven series, and you'll notice there was about a 2-3 year gap between putting out the 1st season and the 2nd one...but then the 3rd one came out only a year or so after the 2nd one.

reply

as it stands, i have read that due to low selling numbers for season one there are no plans to release any other seasons, which sucks. For some shows, I think that since they always claim money, etc, it would be better to release a whole show dvd. With this one, i guess it was all they could do to get the epis on cd. no specials, no nothing. If that is the way it's going to be, just release the whole show and give us all a chance to get it! BTW if anyone is selling 2-3 epis on vhs/dvd, that would be cool too! Still waiting for Homefront.

reply

Parisma22, where did you hear that?

It sort of makes sense that this show have lower sales number that say Lost, Prison Break etc, because more people have heard of those shows and watch them. Let's face it, even though we all love The Young Riders, it isn't the show that is one everyone's lips, nor a household name.

What we can do is to send a storm of snail mail to the company that distributed the first season, asking that season 2 be released. Snail mail, as opposed to e-mail, take up physical space so at one point they can't just ignore it any longer. *insert evil grin here*

ioffer.com has the complete series

BOOTLEG ALERT.

Since seasons 2 & 3 haven't had an official release yet, those complete series sets on ioffer must be bootlegs someone taped from tv and burned to DVD-Rs.

I go online sometimes, but everyone's spelling is really bad. It's...depressing.

reply

i'd sure take it! the only other one i have is a VERY bad quality tape of the last episode...as long as it wasn't a scam I'd pay for the rest just to have em..............

reply

IDIOT ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!
OH SHUT UP rycki1138
ioffer.com is a greta site and offers great DVDs for a great price

reply

But if these DVDs haven't been released then they are "Bootlegs".

Poor quality DVD-rs that someone transferred from recordings off TV broadcasts.

And if ioffer is selling bootlegs of unreleased DVDs then I wouldn't call it a "great" site. I would call it an "illegal" site.

And if you're shilling for a site that sells illegal bootlegs, that makes you the idiot, not me. Especially since you're promoting illegal DVDs on a Website (IMDb) that is owned by Amazon.com. A company that only sells legitimate DVDs.

I go online sometimes, but everyone's spelling is really bad. It's...depressing.

reply

I do not own the site
Check it out yourself before running your mouth.

reply

I didn't say you owned the site, I said you were shilling for the site. That means you're promoting it and recommending it to people without telling them that it's selling illegal bootlegs. And if you check your terms and conditions for your account with IMDb you'll see that promoting, selling or linking to sites that sell bootlegs is against the rules and can get your account deleted.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shill

If you tell people "You can find complete season sets at Ioffer" then they will go there thinking they are buying legitimate DVD sets. You don't tell them that they are bootlegs that are recorded from tv, so if they order them and get poor quality dvr's they will get mad because nobody told them they weren't legitimate DVDs.

And I did check out the site, but even before I did I knew they were selling bootlegs because I know that the last two seasons of Young Riders haven't been released yet.

All the seasons have now been released.

Please stop.

reply

There's nothing wrong with iOffer as a site. I agree there. I did buy season 1-3 of the young riders from iOffer and sure, it was viewable. Bad sound quality and sometimes horrible image quality but it works. All episodes are there and it's better than nothing. Young Riders hasn't been aired in Sweden since 1993, I think. It was about damn time I saw the show again!

Hi everyone!
MGM was the distributer of this show and I checked on their website and found that if you live in the US or Canada and have any questions or complaints regarding MGM DVD releases you can call this number 888-223-2369. I myself live in Sweden and therefore don´t have that oportunity, but mabye if everyone who is a fan of the show and do have that chance could call and ask for a release of series 2 and 3 they might do it.
At least something to think about

It's a sad fact, but studios usually release the first season of a lesser-known series just to see how it'll sell. If sales are low, they halt any further seasons from making their way to DVD. This happened to the series, "Archie Bunker's Place" when sales from season 1 were lower than expected. The Young Riders was a great series that had loyal fans back in the day, but was soon forgotten, not even appearing in re-runs for the next decade (you apparently need at least 100 episodes to qualify for syndication). The original viewers moved on, and not enough of them bought the DVD's. Sad.

reply

It was on re-runs on the Hallmark channel a few years ago.

It probably would have done better on DVD if (when it was first released) MGM didn't charge $69.99 for season 1. I bought it the day it came out and that was Best Buy's price. It was only after it wasn't selling that they cut the price in half.

. . . a bunch of us sent letters earlier this year to MGM and now the rights are with TGG Direct. Please write (& pass this along) if you're interested in joining in.

And It's nice to meet another Supernatural Fan who also likes TYR. ;)

reply

TGG followed through, and season 3 of TYR is now available for pre-sale (scheduled to ship Nov 6 unless Sandy plays a role)through Amazon.com.

TGG's reply to my email on releasing ALL full seasons, was that they ask for patience, as they are double checking all licensing rights, and hope to have season 2 released in 2013. There may also be a box set in the works.

I'm so excited that within the month I will finally have TYR season 3 on DVD! I was stuck at season 3 ep 17 on streaming . . . Now, it's just waiting for season 2. LOL

reply

The season 3 release has now been pushed to January 29th according to the Amazon.com page for the set. The Sea Hunt and Bat Mastersons set releases by TGG Direct that were also originally supposed to be released in November have also been pushed to January 29th.

Thank you rycki1138. They delayed it again?

I saw TGG/Amazon posted January 9 as the "new release date", and there was some notice posted in November about it being "sold out", when they actually changed the release date. And now it's another full month? LOL

I have an open order sitting there with Amazon waiting to be filled, if TGG ever gets around to actually releasing this DVD. ~sigh~ I seriously don't understand TGG's tactics here. It's bad PR. I'm tempted to offer my services as a professional PR rep, as they sure don't understand creating customer loyalty by proving credibility. :(

reply

I pre-ordered this back in October when it was first announced, too. I also pre-ordered the Bat Masterson and Sea Hunt sets that were announced that same day and I've been checking into the release days periodically to see exactly when they were supposed to be released. I saw they change to January 9th and a few days ago they changed it again to January 29th.

I've seen this with other DVD sets before. I pre-ordered The Bob Newhart Show seasons 5-6 back in late July of 2011 and I am still waiting on those sets to be released. They still don't have a definite release date for those yet. These two are supposed to be released by Fox.

A couple of years ago in August, 2010 I pre-ordered the old 1970s Mel Brooks TV series When Things Were Rotten and it was supposed to be released in November of that year. The company then said that they were postponing that release to a later time, but never said exactly when. I got monthly updates about that release from Amazon until one year later in August 2011 when Amazon cancelled the order because it had never been released. That one was supposed to be released by Paramount.

When I emailed with TGG, they said to the effect that they were checking all rights they had to the series, and for everyone to be patient, as they do plan to release the full series on DVD once they have full legal issues straightened out.

I get that, but having dealt with clients that purchase rights to other's content on a regular basis, that should have all been ironed out BEFORE they announced a release at all. I would venture a guess that TGG isn't experienced in this side of the entertainment industry and their trying to learn as they go. From looking at their site, they are web developers and marketers, which I have no clue how that ended up with them buying content to release for sale. LOL

Unfortunately, it just looks bad on TGG and OH, I'm with you on the frustration of waiting for an order to be filled, when it's announced it's been released.

I sure hope TYR doesn't end up like your Mel Brooks order. :(

I just got an email from Amazon.com today saying season 3 of The Young Riders and one season of Bat Masterson have shipped.

Yep got the same email - FINALLY on its way! Maybe they waited to celebrate Josh Brolin's birthday on the 12th. LOL

Season 3 of Young Riders arrived today. Along with Bat Masterson Seasons 1-2.

I haven't had time to check out the video or audio yet. It just arrived by UPS. I did notice the box is different than most DVD sets. It's like a box that chocolates come in, where the bottom of the box fits completely into the top. Inside are two plastic DVD cases the same size as a movie DVD case. One has 3 disk in it and the other 2. There are no special features on the DVD set. But I don't really care that there are no special features because I'm just happy to have the episodes. Even though a few audio commentaries or interviews with the cast would have been nice.

Now I hope they hurry and get the legalities worked out and get season 2 of Young Riders released sometime soon.

Yep, got mine today too rycki1138. I kind of like the chocolate box packaging (nice description r), as it may hold up better than the typical cardboard outer sleeve, or fully plastic cases.

I'll take all discs for a spin tonight, to make sure the menus work and audio and video is okay. I can hear a spinner in the second case, but no rattlers in eithers, so my set is off to a good start.

And congratulations on FINALLY getting your Bat Masterson set!

I so hope TGG gets season 2 out in 2013. And by 2014/15, I do hope they will put out a boxed set, with extras. I think Ms Raye from Trail Tales was offering to help them out with interviews and some other extras she's collected. I wouldn't think it would take a lot of work to get Zerbe, Brolin, Miller or Franklin to interview for a special edition. They're all still working and pretty easy to contact if you have the connections.

Season 2 just released on DVD (wk commencing 21st Oct 2013) - hopefully Season 3 will turn up soon.

"Inconceivable!"

reply

season 3 Is already out. The new owners of the dvd's put it out earlier this year. it should be on amazon. They had some trouble with the copyrights to some of the shows in season 2 so they put out s1 and s3 first and then s2. try www.amazon.com they should have all the seasons. Season 3 is out of order but if you look in the reviews people have put what order they were in when it was on tv. Happy Hunting. :)
