In the first 2 seasons especially, before Screech just went completely idiotic, I think Diamond displayed some great acting chops.
Comedic timing, slapstick, facial expressions, not to mention the dramatic stuff like when Screech feels sad. Diamond was a talented dude, as was the rest of the cast who I don’t think get the credit they deserve either.
I agree. Though I don't mind him in seasons 3 and 4. He didn't become unbearable to me til Saved by the Bell the New Class.

shareI only ever watched a few episodes The New Class. The last one I remember had Screech putting plaster of Paris all over Mr. Belding's body to try and turn him into a statue or something.
shareThe New Class was actually pretty good for the 2nd and 3rd seasons. It went off the rails later though....

In fact, I'll go further out on the limb and say he was the most talented actor in that cast.
