Mikey over Screech?

Apologies if this has been discussed already; I searched, and didn't find any similar threads.

Does anyone else think Mikey from Good Morning, Miss Bliss should have joined the SBTB cast instead of Screech? Like Screech, Mikey was a bit dorky, he was Zack's sidekick, and there was at leas one episode of Miss Bliss in which he showed interest in Lisa.

I've always thought Mikey should've been on Bell instead of Screech. He could've been the nerd without being annoying about it, and there could have been three cute guys in the cast instead of just Zack and Slater. Mikey would just need a different hairstyle from Slater's jherri mullet.

What are your thoughts?

He wasn't cartooony or memorable enough for Saved by the bell - he didn't have much of a personality imo.
Screech may be mega annoying but he's not forgettable, I personally thought 'Big Pete' was a better, more likable nerd sidekick than Screech though.

I agree that Screech was included in a hurry, but Screech is also too helpless along the way besides being an annoying dork at the same time.

Even if Mikey wasn't cartoony or memorable enough for SBTB, Mikey can play a dorky nerd without being both annoying and helpless along the way better than Screech.

The original SBTB series would never be overrated outside of America and throughout the entire planet if they had chosen Mikey than Screech carefully on the first place.

I wish Mikey would have continued on the show, but I don't think it would have worked because of Slater based on their looks. Plus, Mikey didn't have a standout personality in my opinion. I don't think it would've been fair for Zack to have two dorky sidekicks at the same time, even though Screech was extremely dorky. I could see him maybe straightening his hair and having to slick it down sometimes, and maybe he could have drifted apart from Zack or something. Still, I don't see how his personality could have fit.

A bit of the old ultraviolence...

Screech is also a helpless type of person besides being extremely dorky along the way.

Nerds, like Screech, are kind of dorky and annoying permanently, but they are also always helpless permanently at the same time, that's all.

I wasn't sad to see Mikey or Nikki go - they were both irritating. Screech might have turned out to be a huge moron near the end of the series, but he was a sweet nerd the first 2 seasons. It was easy to see why they chose to keep him for SBTB.

reply

I liked Nikki more than Mikey, but they were both alright characters. I wish they'd kept Nikki though. Heather Hopper played a good character.

I think that they needed an ugly dork to play Screech and Dustin Diamond certainly fit that bill. I think that the idea was that Bayside was so inclusive that the cool kids could be friends with someone who was a buffoon and annoyed the hell out of everyone.

Unfortunately that bill, which you mentioned about, Kurt-Stein, was not correctly made to become safe enough, on the first place.

Bayside should have started of with all normal cool kids and excluding that buffoon on the first place.

I have a strong agreement about doing the rebooted version at Bayside High setting because this rebooted version should, this time, be all normal cool kids and without making risks including a single nerd in a hurry. If the rebooted version does well with all normal cool kids, then they will decide to create a rebooted spin-off including one or two buffoons in it, without any hurried motion.

But I'm sure that this reboot version should never endanger the entire real lives of both former SBTB actresses Tiffani Amber Neilssen and Elizabeth Berkley because they both did not appear in all original SBTB class episodes as the other original SBTB cast mates.
