A possiible future VR DIY version
This comment was originally made for an NBC News article on Virtual Reality:
Perhaps some enterprising nerd can use such VR to make a version of Quantum Leap, except that the customer "leaps" into the life of Dr. Sam Beckett, who then leaps into the lives of other people to "set... right things which once went wrong."
Of course, there are a lot of details to be worked out. Does the customer follow the script, or does the program respond to the customer's ad libs to change the dialog, or even the plot line? Is the project observer/guide Al (Admiral Albert Calavicci) "played" by a live person, or a computer-generated being?
Maybe we'd have to await advances in AI (artificial intelligence) for this to happen. Still, it is an interesting idea.
