Appropriate for a six year old?

I've only seen Mr. Bean in the recent movie with my little girl (rated G) and we both enjoyed it. I see the 1997 flick is PG-13, so that's out... how are these TV sketches? Anything suggestive or offensive material that a child shouldn't see?

There is innuendo. In one sketch for some reason he's zipping up hs pants zipper and has his finger sticking out. He runs around a hotel naked and holding signs to cover himself, front says "Private" back said "Exit" and at another point "No Entry". That sort of stuff. I haven't gotten to see the new movie yet. There some language, 'heck', I forget if any other. There's one scene where he's in an art class with a nude model, they show her back and shoulder, they show her strategically covered with clay, courtesy of Mr. Bean.
HTH! :D

Nothing even close to that in the new film. Thanks! I may see it, but not the kids.

Mr Bean isn't rude or anything and he doesn't swear or does bad things like kill people.. I know that you have seen his bum in the hotel and the swimming pool episode but that's all you see.. you don't see him naked from the front so it can't be that bad for kids.. I was only 5 or 6 when i first watched this and i still do now at 17 years old, so mr bean is ok for a 6 year old!

SPIDER PIG!! Loving the simpsons movie!

See, to me the finger-in-fly gag has no sexual context. And yes, it's possible for private parts to appear without a sexual context. All of the nudity in Mr. Bean is purely comic and cartoonish. Again, Private and Exit signs over someone's nether regions are perfectly funny without thinking about sex. The stuff really is designed to appeal to the child in everyone. Kids can laugh at jokes about private parts long before they have any sexual awakening. I think many of us can relate to the sense that, when we were pre-adolescent, private parts were funny just because they were there, like farts. I saw both the Mr. Bean TV shows and the first movie long before I was thirteen. I still feel that the PG-13 rating for that movie was unwarranted and maybe it came from the American movie ratings people not understanding Mr. Bean (I say that as an American), but PG really would have sufficed in this case.

Way, way, way late, but for what it's worth, not only is the TV series perfectly child-appropriate in my opinion, but the PG-13 rating on the first movie, although daunting on its face, is excessive. I saw both the TV shows and the first movie before I was ten and came out unscathed. There's no violence, no nudity--not even comic or cartoonish. There is some brief language, although in my opinion it never really passes what I would consider a PG level. About the worst thing is that Bean mistakenly thinks the middle finger is a friendly gesture and uses it in one sequence. I guess it depends on the child, but I usually knew when not to mimic things I saw on TV. Basically, the humor of Mr. Bean is perfectly geared to people under thirteen (even the innuendo with the finger sticking out of the fly is pretty pretty juvenile and has no sexual context), so I think the PG-13 rating may have given people the wrong impression of the character and movie and worked against it.
