ITS HORRIBLE! I JUST GOT MY DVD SET. IT IS NOT THE SAME WITHOUT THE ORIGINAL OPENING THEME. THE END THEME IS THE ORIGINAL PIANO MUSIC.

MY DVD ARRIVED MAY 9TH FROM EBAY!!

THE VIEWING PICTURE IS TERRIFIC, EVERYTHING IS PERFECT!!!

BUT THE OPENING THEME IS TERRIBLE-- IT'S
TOO ROCK AND ROLLISH- IT DOES NOT FIT AT
ALL!!

IN OTHER WORDS--NO ONE WILL LIKE THE OPENING THEME-

TO TURN THE ORIGINAL BRILLIANT THEME WE ALL LOVE AND
CHANGE IT TO A ROCK AND ROLLISH THEME IS MAKING
THE SHOW LOOK BAD!!

THE NEW THEME IS CRAP!!! JUST HIT MUTE LIKE I
DO WHEN WE HEAR THE OPENING CREDITS!!!

I WILL NEVER TAKE TO THIS NEW CRAPPIER THEME--
THIS DOES NOT DO JUSTICE TO THE OLD THEME!!!

I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE THE CLOSING THEME- ALWAYS
HAVE!! THE GENTLE PIANO MUSIC AND MELODY FIT THE
SHOW PERFECTLY!! SORT OF MELANCHOLY- BUT IT ALSO GIVES
THE MESSAGE OF HOPE!

Knowing that they replaced the original opening music theme, I think they could of at least had the first episode or a few episodes with the original opening music theme.

Maybe Season 2 will have the original opening music theme. Let's hope anyway.

michael jackson would notlet them use odibada now if the sells the song maybe there have it on the other seasons

Actually I like the new theme. While not as good as the original, at least the songwriter attempted to emulate the style of a theme song from the late 80's/early 90s.

The reality is the series would never have been released without the new theme due to the rights of the song. The producers likely had both broadcast and distribution rights for "Ob-la-di Ob-la-da" for the pilot episode only, which is why it appears intact.

The rest of season one likely only had broadcast rights for the theme song, so it could not be included in the set.

The new theme song sucks. It's really too bad they couldnt have the original song.

The only reason they replaced the theme is due to the high licensing costs for the Beatles' "Ob-la-di, ob-la-da"...

So I think, technically, they COULD use the original theme song, but it would most likely result in a MUCH MUCH HIGHER cost for the DVD set.

I don't like it. It was nice that they could play some of it on the very first episode, but it's just not the same.... =(.. I liked hearing the cast sing it.

That's a friggin' shame: the copyright holders won't even budge for a show whose main focus is a guy with Down Syndrome? Very evil.
