I tend to enjoy watching the 1990's episodes of COPS a lot more than the 2000's/2010's episodes because I feel there were more variety of crimes and the police officers' humor and personalities were more interesting back then.
shareIt was likely less scripted back then. In today's climate, everything needs to go through multiple filters before it can be processed enough for public consumption.
I also feel many of the recent episodes seem to go through the same scenario, especially on the traffic stop episodes where they arrest someone for drugs or for a warrant.

I came to those board to try to figure out why COPS changed from the '90s to the 2000s.
They used to show dead bodies, shootouts, and insane confrontations.
They used to go to exotic places like Alaska & Russia or Hawaiii, etc. . .
I haven't watched regularly in many years, but whenever I tune in, it seems like they're only harrassing people for drug possession and prostitutes and traffic stops. That's it.
What happened?
your right the early episodes are so epic. everything from back then was way more badass. i miss the good ol days
