That always makes me wonder what do they do for a living because it's hard for me to believe they could keep a job when they are doing drugs, etc. Some of the women, regardless of their age, might be prostitutes, but I'm sure the men aren't. It is my guess that a lot of them are receiving SSI, or disability benefits, due to their mental issues after using for that long.

I wonder about that all the time, too. When people are really deep into their addictions, they do pretty much whatever they have to do to keep using. I'm sure government assistance often plays a role, especially with young mothers. And there are all kinds of ways to scam social services. Then there's drug dealing, prostitution, & other shady stuff that lands them on the show. Also, I think a lot of people are enabled by family or spouses who probably have good intentions. The whole thing is sad because it perpetuates generation after generation.
