Missing Episode on SO called COMPLETE series DVD set

Howdy I just thought I would point out after purchasing the box set today and looking over it.. that the episode entitled

DEALS and WHEELS (part 1) is not in the dvd 6 disc collection. I cannot recall the episode from its screening back in the late 80's however according to imdb it seems as if there should of been a follow up episode. There is no Episode (2) of the same title on the disc set either. Which leads me to believe for some reason at the time of airing they never showed part 2 of the episode. Probably the reason this episode has been withdrawn from the box set too. I will confirm after going over the show again. Just thought id point it out as the slip case states 21 episodes on the 6 disc set however according to all other sources IMDB included there should be 22 .

Hi jrawjray, the above link has a bit more info on the episode. If you scroll down to the 'Notes' section it mentions that Part 2 of 'Deals & Wheels' aired as episode 65 of '21 Jump Street'.

Very clever of you to notice this omission. I didn't, and just assumed that the Region 4 release contained all the episodes. Checking the guest stars listed, I do recall seeing Beth Toussaint, but I've forgotten what actually happens in the episode. A pity we've missed out on seeing both parts of this particular episode.

thanks a lot for that link.. Interesting stuff. Don't think i wanna watch part 2 through Jump Street until somehow I can get my hands on the Booker episode. If i come across it somehow I will send you a PM :)

You're welcome. Yeah, it would be good to know if you do find it. Thanks.

Deals and Wheels was a cross-over episode with 21 Jump Street, with part 1 airing on Booker as "Deals and Wheels (1)" and the conclusion airing on 21 Jump Street as "Wheels and Deals (2)". Part 1 was included on the season 4 DVD box set of 21 Jump Street, listed as "Wheels and Deals Part 1 & 2" with the Booker opening credits replaced with the 21 Jump Street opening. The first half is the Booker episode and the second the 21 Jump Street episode.

When American shows are released on DVD in other countries, the rights are owned by someone diffferent than in the US. In other words, someone in Australia purchased the rights of Booker to release and distribute it on DVD in Australia. The Deals and Wheels episode is on the Jump Street DVD's (at least the North American DVD's) and part 1 is now considered part of the 21 Jump Street series, that is, the rights to that episode are part of the rights to distribute 21 Jump Street.

Someone who has the boxed set up the 21 jump street season 4 series should upload this wheels and deals part 1, because I see that people have downloaded several episodes of 21JS season 4 on you tube already.

They actually aired it with the 21 JumpStreet credits in Australia I know this as I video taped all this stuff back in the day. So far they appear uncut with original music though I'm only a little way in as it was an xmas present. Booker doesn't suffer though as much like JumpStreet did with replacement music as there wasn't a huge use other than Hot in the City though will have to update this post once I've watched the whole series.

I would have screamed blue murder if Deals and Wheels wasn't a two parter on the Jumpstreet set but I can live with it presented this way due to probably only ever airing as a Booker episode in it's first U.S. airing then packaged as a Jumpstreet ep in syndication.

OT: On video in the jumpstreet episode Chapel of Love they cut out a scene due to Licensing issues over music as well as in the episode Wooly Bullies. I should dig them out for youtube

The DVD isn't available in the US yet :(

GOOD NEWS!!!The series will finally be released August 25th, 2009.
BAD NEWS!!! It only holds 20 of the 22 episodes that complete the series. The two episodes are Wheels and Deals Part 1(available on Season 4 DVD Set of 21 Jump Street, along with the follow-up crossover episode Wheels and Deals Part 2)and the next episode "Someone Stole Lucielle" which centers around the theft of BB Kings stolen guitar
Why they aren't including the episode is a big clue, perhaps the footage has been lost or destroyed or it has a ban of some kind in the US or it could be simply the rights to any BB King music in the episode hasn't been solved. I may still buy it, just to complete my Jump Street collection

Here's the link on the stats of the set

Thank goodness I have the B.B. King episode on VHS. It is my favorite.

"Someone Stole Lucille" features BB King's music throughout the episode, and Mill Creek chose to leave it off the set rather than pay for the rights to distribute the music with the DVD. The Australian set includes this episode with music intact. Almost every (not all) DVD player can be made region free by simply entering a numerical code via the remote for the make/model of machine.

Does anyone have the episode "Someone Stole Lucille"? I'd love to get a copy of it.

reply

That was my favorite episode...I think that's the one with BB King..."...Lucille" was BB King's stolen guitar...

If your read again it says COLLECTOR'S EDITION, not complete.

for what its worth that episode was recentyly aired on H&I as part of their 21 Jump Street package

it falls in between S04E09 (Mike's POV) and S04E10 (Wheels and Deals 2)
- you see it occasionally when shows do cross over, especially spin off call backs that the rights get tied up

'Wheel & deal 1' was Booker S01E08 and the two parter originally aired on back to back nights on Fox

FYI: Both of the crossover episodes and the missing Lucille episode are on TUBI. The bad news is that Hot In The City is still nowhere to be found:
