When on earth is this coming out on DVD?

It's amazing to me that this film has "slipped through the cracks." Is there a dispute over ownership? Or do people simply think that, with the fall of apartheid, the history of that era is a dead issue? Whatever the reason may be, it's keeping one of the best films of the '80s restricted to VHS.

Thats a very good point. Now that S.Africa has been awarded the 2010 World Cup, we should examine the relationship whites have had in the dark continent. As a black person, the fascination with africa by whites has fascinated me. Especially films about Africa with no black main characters. I hope we can learn from these films about an uncomfortable past, so that we may enjoy apartheid free S.Africa. I havent seen this film, but I did see the "Kitchen Toto". I hope to see "A World Apart" very soon. This issue makes me and most blacks uncomfortable. Its a reality we must face.

I love this movie and own it on VHS.I hope it comes out on DVD sometime in the future, for better quality and perhaps some special features.

Is it really out in the UK? Or has it been deleted? I've been trying to find this (in any format) for years, and have failed miserably. I taped it off the telly in the 80s and wore the tape to death, but haven't seen it in at least ten years now. I am dying to see it again. It's a wonderful film, and it has so many memories of my childhood interwoven with it.

You'll find it on amazon.co.uk by the way and probably on amazon.com too. Unfortunately though it's only on region 1 so you'll need a multi-regional dvd player to watch it. I just bought it from a seller on amazon.co.uk. I hope you find this useful if you haven't found it already.
