well when she was going to fix breakfast for mr brady mrs brady stopped her and said alice you are not our housekeeper anymore and when they are getting ready to serve dinner alice is setting the table mrs brady tells her again alice ive told you before you are not our housekeeper anymore.and one other time earlier in the movie when mr and mrs brady realized they were each planning a different trip and mr brady asks alice why she didnt tell them she said they both told her it was a secret and she couldnt work for people who couldnt trust her to keep a secret and mrs brady responds alice you dont work for us.and alice replies that well than she cant be friends with people who cant trust me to keep a secret.the way i always viewed it was even though alice wasnt there housekeeper anymore and she was their friend she probably felt that she had to earn her keep while staying with the bradys after sam left her even though the bradys didnt feel that way.they just wanted her to stay there and live with them as their friend.alot of times in reality when a person stays with someone they feel they have to do chores to earn their keep even if the people they are staying with dont feel that way.
