Watched the movie again

Every Christmas since 1988 my family and I have watched this movie without fail every year. Last night was the 19th year we've seen the movie. My kids all grew up watching it. It's a family tradition. They are all adults now but still enjoy watching it every Christmas.

Although I've seen this movie more than 20 times through out the years I can still see and hear some things I've never noticed before. I never noticed that Kevin (Greg's son) whispers something when he and is cousin Mickey head out to go to the bathroom.

Hard to believe that in 2 years will be the 20th anniversary of this movie! Does time ever go fast!

Time does go fast! I was born during the final season of the Brady Bunch (in fact, I was born right after "The Cincinnati Kids" episode was aired!) so I've only seen them in reruns, but I grew up with it and it was always one of my favorites (if not my favorite).

What's amazing to me is that there were 14 years between the original series and this movie, and now it's been almost 20 years since this movie first aired.

Because I wasn't around when the series originally aired, "A Very Brady Christmas" always seemed like a more up-to-date and modern movie to me, and over the years, it never seemed like it was that old of a movie. Now, taking a step back, it's hard to believe it's been that long. It really does show that time flies.

Between the original series and this movie there were two other Brady series; The Brady Bunch Hour in 1977 (3 years after the original series ended) and The Brady Brides in 1981 (4 years later). Then came A Very Brady Christmas 7 years after that in 1988. So it wasn't as if the Bradys were off the air between 1974 and 1988 like you make it sound.

On top of that, 2 years after this movie came out the Bradys came back in yet another series called The Bradys in 1990. This was their last series. So the Bradys had 5 incarnations, not to mention the cartoon called The Brady Kids in 1972.

I definitely wasn't implying that the Brady's were off the air from 1974 to 1988. What did I say that made it sound like that? I was merely talking about the original series and AVBC and comparing the gap in time between the two, that's it. I was commenting on the fact that it had been 14 years between the original series and AVBC, and AVBC always seemed so modern to me until I realized that there is now a bigger gap between AVBC and the present than between the original series and AVBC.

I am well aware of the other series (and have seen them) before and after AVBC. I never saw the Brady Bunch Hour in it's original run, but I did see the Brady Brides when it was originally on, as well as The Brady's. I've commented on The Brady's board before, too, yet you're making it sound like I've never heard of it before.

Sorry if I offended you. It was not my intention. It just sounded in your original post that you didn't know there were other Brady shows besides the original and the Christmas movie. I just listed them all to try to be helpful. Sorry again.

No problem, I probably should've been more clear. I must admit, I'm not really a fan of the Brady Bunch Hour, but I really enjoyed the Brady Brides and the Brady's. I wish they would've given the Brady's more of a chance. I think it was an interesting and different format, but it just didn't do well enough to give it a chance at succeeding. It seems like Friday night shows don't do all that well anyway, and the time slot didn't seem to work for a drama. But I enjoyed it.

I agree about the Bradys. It could have been a really good show had they given them a chance to develop. I agree that the problem was the time slot. It was an hour too early. That's what killed it.

I really enjoyed the Brady Bunch Hour. I liked the idea of having a variety show but also having a complete Brady Bunch story inside the hour split up by musical numbers. I always looked forward to Peter being pushed into the pool by Greg. I didn't like Rip Taylor (Mr. Merrill) much as a love-hate interest for Alice though. But over all I enjoyed the show. I'd like to buy all the shows but all they have available on eBay is the first and third episodes. I wish they'd put all of them together in order in one DVD package.

I really enjoyed The Brady Girls Get Married, the 90 minute show that was the pilot for The Brady Brides. But I didn't like The Brady Brides too much when it aired. That was when I was a newlywed myself. I was disappointed that I didn't like the shows but I stuck with them and gave the show a chance. Not long ago I bought what I thought was the 90 minute pilot on DVD. It turned out to be 2 DVDs with the whole series of The Brady Brides too and I really enjoyed it this time! Strange how our taste changes with time.

Did you buy the Brady Brides 2 DVD set on eBay, or is it for sale in stores (or amazon.com)?

I agree with you. If they put a boxed set together, complete with the original series, The Brady Bunch Hour, the 90-minute Brady Girls Get Married, The Brady Brides, A Very Brady Christmas, and the Brady's, I think it would sell extremely well. I, for one, would buy it.

It would be a very large boxed set, but they put something similar together for all 10 seasons of Friends, so they could feasibly do it.

I bought the Brady Brides off eBay. Someone taped it from TV and put it on DVD. Didn't cost much so the person who made them didn't make much money off of it, Only enough for his trouble I'm sure.

OK, thanks!

It's a few months after Christmas, but I was in the mood for innocuous entertainment so I played this today. It's pretty much what I expected – mildly amusing, heavily cheesy entertainment. I much preferred the '90s Brady films, but I enjoyed this enough to give it 6/10 stars.

It had everything except the real Cindy. I guess eight out of nine cast members was still a good turnout.
