Was the 'old' footage from an actual episode?

This just stumped us...in the part where Cindy is thinking back to when she asked Santa to make her mom's throat better so that she could sing...I DON'T think this was from an actual episode. And I'm pretty sure I would remember.

Anyone know if this was in an actual episode, or just something that was cut?

Oh it was an actual episode for sure. Its from the first season.

reply

Yeah, that was part of an actual episode. The ironic thing is they only showed 2 "flashback" clips in the movie and one of them, the one being talked about in this thread, involved a character that didn't have its original cast member playing it.

For some reason they hardly ever show that Christmas episode in syndication. I suppose they save it to show closer to Christmas, but it's weird that I grew up watching that show multiple times a day in reruns and never saw that episode until I was an adult. Glad I'm not the only one who barely remembers it.

It seems to be that way with all older sitcoms. If they have a CHRISTMAS episode that involves church or mentions God or Jesus, they don't air it anymore. If the have a generic HOLIDAY episode, that's the one they'll show.

[heavy sarcasim]Don't want to offend anyone by mentioning God or Jesus. That wouldn't be PC.

My priest mentioned one time in a sermon how sad PC had become that you can't even mention Jesus Christ at Christmas when HE is the ONLY reason we have a Christmas!

reply

If you're not going to celebrate Jesus's birth, you have no business celebrating Christmas.

Of course it was from an acutal episode! How else would they have a younger Mike in the scene? It was from the Christmas episode of the first year. I can't believe you've never seen it before! It's a good Christmas show. I watch it every Christmas, along with A Very Brady Christmas.

All of the flashback footage utilized in this movie were from actual episodes of TH BRADY BUNCH.

"The Brady Bunch" had only one Christmas episode and it is rarely shown in syndication.

reply

Not true. "The Voice of Christmas" has been shown all the time in syndication, all the way back to the first cycle in the 1970s. It has always been part of the regular rerun package.
