Cindy?

Why wasn't the real Cindy in this one? Does Anyone know?

reply

Susan Olsen (the orignal Cindy) was on her honeymoon in Jamaica when this was being filmed.

reply

I thought she died of a drug overdose because she was a prostitute.

GET REAL! I can't believe people are still thinking this after all these years! Not after all the Brady mania through out the years and the various incarnations!

You are getting mixed up with Anissa Jones who played Buffy in Family Affair. Anissa had a drug overdose in 1976 when she was 18 years old. Her fatal overdose was of a combination of cocaine, angel dust, Quaaludes and Seconal. The San Diego County coroner said it was one of the most severe cases of drug overdose ever seen in San Diego County. Her death is the subject of the song, "Buffy's Dead." The Diodes, a Toronto band from the '70s, had a song about her called "Child Star" (also released as a single, the flip side of "I'm Tired of Feeling Tired"). The chorus goes: "Uncle Bill/Uncle Bill/I took some pills/Mr. French/Mr. French/I'm feeling tense". All this info is on the IMDb website for Family Affair. By the way I have heard MANY reports on Anissa's death through out the years and not once was it mentioned that she was a prostitute.

We've seen Susan Olsen who played Cindy on various Brady Bunch incarnations since Anissa's death. Susan was on Brady Bunch Hour in 1977, Brady Brides in 1981 and The Bradys in 1990. The only incarnation she missed was the A Very Brady Chrismas in 1988 because Susan was on her honeymoon. Not to mention the numerous interviews she's been on since 1990.

I was TOTALLY JOKING, only because that rumor was so stupid and far fetched. Anyone with any intelligence and knowledge of Brady Bunch history knows that it wasn't true. I was being sarcastic!!!!!! I'm not mixing her up with Anissa Jones at all. Please don't put me in the category of those people that actually believed that rumor. I know that Susan Olsen never died, and I have seen her on all of the Brady Bunch movies and shows over the years. When I put that post out there, I was hoping people would figure out that I was making a joke because of all those silly rumors that took place. You can't believe everything everyone says on IMDB.

An urban legend claimed that Susan Olsen had become an adult film star. On a late 1990s television interview, Olsen herself stated on camera that her "porn" connection was that she created space ship sound effects for a porn film called Love Probe From a Warm Planet. She did this as a favor for a friend who worked in the technical side of the business. She also went on to state that perhaps the legend got started because the star of a porn film "Crocodile Blondee" which was widely distributed among troops during the Persian Gulf Crisis, was rumored to be her. She added that since the porn star was very pretty, she did not try too hard to dispel the rumors.

When Eve Plumb declined to participate in "The Brady Bunch Hour" variety show the reason given was that she was filming the made for TV movie "Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway". I think that was misconstrued as she was starring in an adult film.

Actually, the vacation is the story that was put out at the time the movie aired. In more recent years, Brady cast have shared that there was some dissention regarding salaries for this movie. As it was explained by by Susan Olsen and Chris Knight, for most of these reunions the Green Light is given by networks/producers if they can get at least 4 of the "kids" back for the project. In this case, all 6 were interested in the project, but the budget wasn't expanding to cover all 6. Whereas you would think maybe all the kids would get the same $$, apparently they all have to negotiate through their managers, etc. As such, Chris/Susan shared that Susan was being offered less to be involved than all of the other "kids." Chris went on to say that because Maureen is so popular for these projects, the producers offered her more and thus Susan was getting less. Maureen "sucked it all up" according to Chris. Susan did already have honeymoon plans for Jamaica, and decided the money offered for the movie, as well as how she felt treated, wasn't worth cancelling her plans. Chris said he and Maureen were at odds about this for a while, because he felt Maureen could have done it for less to ensure Susan was there, but have apparently reconciled their differences.

Worth noting that Chris said part of the issue is that all of the TV execs making these decisions are guys who were teens when the original series aired and had the hots for Maureen, so they are more interested in her participation than the others.

From an interview:

"When I saw "Cindy" seated at the children's table I thought "Better her than me!" I think Jennifer is much prettier than I am so I was OK with her as a replacement. A few years ago we met, just by accident, at a Burger King! We were there with our kids. We hugged. She's totally nice and got out of the business to be a Mom. I think she's great."

Jennifer has also put a picture of her and Susan on her twitter page:

Where are you getting this info? It sounds made up.

Susan Olsen didn't do the movie because of money. Fans hate to think about it but it is called show BUSINESS. Jennifer Runyon was pretty, but not the real Cindy. Runyon had a small part in "Ghostbusters". Before "A Very Brady Christmas" she was on "Charles In Charge". Her last acting credit was in 1993 so I assume she has left the business.

Oliver wasn't really necessary for a Brady reunion because he appeared in only the last six episodes of the original series. All six Brady kids were mandatory for reunions so if one was unavailable a replacement was used. Geri Reischl played Jan on "The Brady Bunch Hour" variety show and Leah Ayres played Marcia on the short lived 1990 series "The Bradys".
