Which version do I buy?

I don't feel like streaming this, soooo I want to buy me a copy.

I haven't seen this in a while. This movie...ooo I luv! Last time I watched it, I saw it with Japanese voices + english sub's.

The latest DVD has celebrities as the voice overs in English. Are they any good? This is mean of me but I cannot stand Dakota Fanning in any movie I've seen her in, lol! I know they chose this celebrity bec she's trendy, no other reason. But, hey do any of you like her voice over for this movie? If you can watch the movie and forget its her, that's good. I'd get this copy if anyone recommends it.

I'm looking at a 2004 DVD release of this too. Wondering if they chose more anonymous english language voice-over actors for that?

Which one would you get?

I didn't mind the Fanning sisters as Satsuki and Mei. To me, they sounded quite a bit like the Japanese actors.

Thanks for reply, I caved and bought the one with the Fanning sisters. Saw a making-of feature and thought that the idea of having real life sisters do the voices was kinda neat. I think I can forget its Dakota Fanning for the moment, ha! Ok, it was War of the Worlds that annoyed me, lol. Maybe it was just a bad movie? :-)

I found an earlier DVD that I think is by Fox Entertainment. Might have to check that one out too. In meantime, I'm getting this movie, yay! Luv'd it when I saw it before. Childhood nostalgia, this is.

I went out of my way to buy the VHS Fox dub off ebay. I don't believe they ever made a DVD (but if they did, it must be very rare).

In regards to the Disney dub, I LOVE Pat Carroll as granny... but that's about it. The Fanning sisters seem a tad phoned-in (as you said, they were hot topics at the time and that's probably why they were picked) and just didn't seem as enthusiastic about the roles as the original English actresses were.

That said, I preferred the FOX dub due to the fact it was what I saw when I was a kid and, watching the Disney version, it gave me a nagging feeling that something was missing in regards to the characters!
