Holds up amazingly

Saw this one for the very first time earlier this year. We were under lockdown, again & I was so freaking bored. Started channel surfing & just my luck, this was literally starting.

Part of me thought, oh man, this is gonna look & feel dated as hell but to my genuine surprise, it has actually aged WAY better than I thought. It honestly just blew me away. It felt timeless.

Not the best of acting by Roddy Piper but he honestly felt very human. Keith David is great & the writing is absolutely fantastic. I wasn't bored one bit. I was enthralled through the 90min runtime

It's my second favorite John Carpenter film. After The Thing

So relevant today. They live. We sleep.

The funny thing is, only the woke are asleep.

It's a great film, and despite being over 30 years old, much like novels such as 1984 and Brave New World it's message is still highly relevant to the current era.

I watched it for the first time a few years ago. I thought it was a really smart movie and a strong social critique in the guise of a sci-fi B-movie.

You're correct that Roddy's acting wasn't A-level but he had charisma and a strong screen presence.

I will eventually pick this one up on Blu-Ray.
