So why no remake?
This question really baffels me. It was low-budget cult hit, who cares what it did at the box office.
Aspects of the story are right on point with today's society. A disappearing middle class, a sense that the media is controlling us, smart phone addiction (shown in the movie as tv addiction), trust in the government, a reported lack empathy for our fellow man.
This movie could also be viewed as anti-wealth, anti-capitalist, even anti-semitic.. Perhaps because decision makers in Hollywood are already well off, they don't want to help further ignite a class war.
Also, it could stir up/increase the number of crazies out there who's world view is shall we say, 'unique'.
