Did Howard Stern base his career on this film.......

It sure seems like it ......... Stern even looks somewhat like the central character.

That aside, I love movies like this were there is very little action but a lot of thought put into the characters and the dialogue. After "Natural Born Killers" this is my favourite Oliver Stone movie.

It's the other way around. This movie was influenced by Stern and other shock jocks.

It is the other way around. Howard Stern had been #1 in New York for a few years and had been on Letterman's late night show twice before the movie came out. So a lot of things are ripped off from Howard - except Bogosian is not funny in most of the movie, the opposite of Howard Stern.

When I first saw Talk Radio, I wondered if it had been inspired by Howard Stern.

The main character Barry in both the Pulitzer nominated play and film was based on real life shock jock Alan Berg who was murdered by the Neo-Nazi group, The Order. Interestingly, the film did not go on Broadway until 20 years after the play opened and movie came out, in 2007.
