Really dated, didn't age well.
All the topics Barry talked about, haven't aged well.
The movie comes off as trying to be 'edgy', but it's really just...stupid?

LOL, I know, it aged poorly. A victim of it's own timeliness, I suppose. It WAS relevant when it came out...but the subject matter and stylization keep it locked in 1987, or whenever...

The callers just feel way overdone and do not sound at all realistic (to me). Worked better on stage than on film imo.
"the Dude abides"
The topics arent what havent aged well but it can appear that way since his opinions dont seem new or exciting or edgy anymore.
It's just the way the script plays out.
The end, where Champlain hits a verbal wall behind the microphone, then "pulls it out" in the end as if doing what he ALWAYS does, which is abuse callers, all of a sudden became a huge chore and an obstacle for him to overcome.
And the way they kept the camera on him as they circled around him is supposed to get us excited, I guess, that he is back on a roll... again. For the first time in... 20 minutes.
What an achievement.
I just watched this for the first time in years and I remembered exactly how it ends, but for some reason I was still expecting something else to happen.

listening to:
I still find it very interesting and exciting to watch, but then I'm quite aware it was made in 1988 as I watch it, which doesn't make it less relevent.

If you have lived in the Dallas area or have heard Rush Limbaugh's audience, trust me they sound exactly this.
SARAH PALIN. Hero of the stupid.
"The movie comes off as trying to be 'edgy'"
The irony here being that people often think they're being edgy when jadedly pointing out a perceived attempt at edginess. Kind of pretentious, like naming yourself for a decongestant I suppose.
