Release Date Pushed Back?

I have a hard time remembering this, since this was so long ago, but I seem to recall seeing the She's Having a Baby trailer on the original video release for Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which must've come out in April of 1987, and yet SHAB didn't come out until almost a year later. I also notice, from reading the box office/business page, that the film was shot in the fall of '86. I'm wondering if it was originally supposed to be released earlier, like sometime in the summer of '87, but was delayed (judging from the poor reception it got when it finally came out, I'm assuming that the test screenings didn't go over so well).

It was filmed at the same time as Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. I'm guessing that Paramount went ahead and put out PT&A due to its star power and it was far funnier. SHAB, while still funny, was more of a melodrama and a much more grown up film for John Hughes.
