attic scene between Baldwin and Mcgovern
I will never forget how much that scene had an impact on me. the way he is trying to persuade her to believe that her husband is no good for her. and she will not budge. unforgettable.

I just finished watching this movie. For some reason I loved how Alec Baldwin talked in this scene. I loved it from when he showed up on their doorstep to the point right before he asks her to kiss him. I couldn't stand the music in this movie and Elizabeth seemed older than she really was. I also thought she was a bit annoying especially when she yelled. I liked Kevin Bacon but didn't like the fantasies. If I would ever consider purchasing this movie it would be for this scene. I also like how he was put in his place...like you said...She would not budge and I don't think he was used to that.
From the moment they exchanged that glance at the wedding, Baldwin and McGovern had way more chemistry than Bacon and McGovern.
Of course, Baldwin hadn't gotten pudgy and *beep* yet... :p

He was a creepy womanizer and a terrible friend as well. He gave nothing but bad advice and on top of all that, he tries to seduce his friend's wife. I wouldn't trust anything that came out of his mouth to be true or heartfelt. The wife recognized him early on for what he was. I just found it incredible that she would leave her husband asleep in bed in the middle of the night to go downstairs and try to comfort him. What the hell was she thinking? As soon as he said friendship wasn't enough, she should have gotten up and left. When she finally did get up to leave and told him to sleep well, she should have kept walking, instead she stops when he responds that he won't. He then says he wants her to kiss him goodnight. Give me a break! She should have kicked his butt out of the house right then and there! When he continues to flirt and she turns him down saying that she loves her husband and nothing will change it, she then tells him, "I won't tell Jake about this, it isn't fatal. You have your good points." What good points? Is she out of her mind! As the husband I would want to know what he tried to do. She definitely should have told her husband. This guy comes to their house under the pretext of being upset about his dad dying and, while there, he tries to seduce his friend's wife. She got it right though when she walked out and he told her that she was the only one he ever loved and she responded, "No, your the only one you ever loved".
