Son of Abby
Is the son of Abby the Antichrist? I have this impression since the first time I've seen this film.

I never got that impression either.
He seems like a child of 'hope', of a new chance for the human race.
"Some laughed. He let them. His own heart laughed, and that was enough."
-A Christmas Carol
My impression was:
Christ had originally sacrificed himself to refill the 'Hall of Souls'. The 'Hall' was once again empty and there was no soul left there to be provided for Abby's son. In order to fill the 'Hall of Souls' again, Christ had to return to the world to find someone who would sacrifice themselves. Who better than the mother of the child to be born without a soul? Abby was given a vision of Christ being beaten by the Roman soldiers in order that she might understand the sacrifice that was done the first time and be willing, when the time came, to make it herself. He wasn't the Antichrist - he was simply the first child born after the 'Hall' was once again filled. David Bannon told Avi at the end of the movie to remember and tell the story - just as Christ's story was told.

The correct sacrifice should have been her giving up her life AND her baby's life before the other signs finished happening to break the chain. When she said "I would die for him" she was stretching out her hand towards the baby and addressing him; so it all boiled down to selfishness, apparently her baby's life was more important than the fate of the rest of the world, bleh.
