I would guess you must either be a man or a woman who has not had children. It can be pretty surprising to see what a woman has to go through to bring a child into this world. Most women, nowadays, have a test called "amniocentesis". During the test, they inject a "huge" needle into the pregnant woman's abdomen to extract fetal cells for testing. I had it myself and do not remember ever having any pain medication in preparation for it. It does hurt, but it with all a pregnant woman has to deal with, it is not a bad as it looks. It can cause strong cramping, but is not agonizing.

Also doctors today do not believe in natural birth it seems like. They would rather induce the mother or have the mother have a sea section done. I understand some reasons as to why they do this now but I would rather go through the natural birth with my wife in the future to be honest with you.

Errr....it's really up to your wife since SHE'S the one carrying the baby. Not you. Regardless of whatever your views are about natural vs. assisted childbirth, it's not up to you. Until men can pass a baby through their urethra, they should shut up about how they'd like women to do with their bodies/pregnancies.

Well I do happen to know my girlfriend very well and more than likely she would rather have natural birth I think.

Why get so angry just because a man said that natural child birth is better? Just because he won't be having the baby? It's half of him too, so I would think he has somewhat of a say in the birth. In any case it's the truth - natural child birth is better. End of story. As a WOMAN, I plan on going the natural child birth route, it's so much safer for the baby & I believe for the woman too (granted that it's a healthy pregnancy).

I really cant' stand women who get all defensive whenever men say anything about women and pregnancies/babies. Get a grip. The father has some say in the matter too.

Who's getting angry? Well,I can't stand women (YOU) who push off their beliefs on everyone else. Get off your high horse.

Aren't you guilty of doing the exact same thing, ybrando? Here's an example of you pushing your beliefs on everyone else. :

As a previous poster stated, the baby that the woman is carrying belongs to the father just as much as it belongs to the mother. Therefore, like it or not, the father does have some say in the matter. He's not a random sperm donor. He is the child's father, and he has rights too!

I agree 100%. Men, even the kindest men, have NO idea about the pain of childbirth.
They just can't, as they don't give birth!
The couple can discuss it, but its the woman's decision only, as its her ordeal.

I think anyone who calls it a "sea" section instead of the actual acronym ("C" section, as in "Caesarian") is too ignorant to have a say in how his child is delivered. Leave it to the learned specialists. By the way, any chance in hell you're still with the same girl?

When I was 26 I was pregnant with my first child. They mistakenly thought he had Downs Syndrome. They required me to get an amnio. I can honestly tell you I did not feel a thing. Women do not usually get them because things are good with the pregnancy. Usually you are in the middle of emotional trauma so physical pain takes a back seat!!!
