Any relation to White Zombie?

is this movie at all related to White Zombie. I've seen both, but do these have similar roots or based on a certain event.

No relation this film is based from a true story the 1985 book with the same name by harvard scientist Wade Davis.

No relation. Zombies are rooted from Black African origins. Which is why that particular movie was called "White Zombie". Also a classic.
