Wes Craven's best movie.
Anyone else agree?
shareNo. Not his best his 3rd best! ANOES (84) and scream is better then this but this is great!! 8/10
shareYeah you are right about ANOES being his best movie. But as far as a "realistic" horror, this one seemed to hit the nail. Yes of course it had it super cheesy moments, just like ANY Craven movie. I just really enjoyed it haha.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt becomes the next Batman
Agreed. ANOES is definitely his best with Scream after, but Serpent
follows them both imo and is very underrated.
I do not understand this love for Scream. It's a glossy, big budget, Hollywood production that killed the slasher genre. I was 18 or 19 when it came out and I saw what came before it. I'm assuming that those who like it so much are about a decade younger than me and appealed to YOUR generation, not mine.
shareScream is his worst movie. The only people who like it weren't old enough to be aware of the real slasher movies that came before it in the 1980's. Scream was the antithesis of the slasher genre and horror in general.
sharestupid old man

New Nightmare is his strongest film. I'm not sure how I'd rank the rest of his work. Maybe a "best of" would look something like...
New Nightmare
Scream
A Nightmare on Elm Street
The People Under the Stairs
The Serpent and the Rainbow
Scream 4
The Hills Have Eyes
The rest of his films I either haven't seen or didn't like.
i agree. best by far
shareFor my money SATR is 2nd.
shareNo. My list of Craven's Top 10:
1. THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT (1972)
2. THE HILLS HAVE EYES (1977)
3. A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (1984)
4. DEADLY BLESSING
5. SUMMER OF FEAR
6. THE SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW
7. SCREAM
8. WES CRAVEN'S NEW NIGHTMARE
9. MUSIC OF THE HEART
10. SHOCKER (Uggghhh)
I wouldn't call it his best but it is an okay movie. My favorites of his would have to be The Last House on the Left, A Nightmare on Elm Street, New Nightmare, The Hills Have Eyes, Deadly Friend, and Summer of Fear.
