I like this movie but why do you rant and rave about it??

I think all you *beep* who rant and rave about this movie are killing it for normal horror fans such as myself..all I ever heard before I saw this movie was how 'terrifying' and 'genuinely bone-chilling' it was..and i remember seeing it for the first time with my cousin who at the time was like 12, and we were both laughing..its not that scary guys, or that good, PERIOD. i just got it on DVD for christmas today because my little brother knew i was a fan of the movie, but thats it..i'm not going to go out and tell the whole world that this is the best horror movie ever because it isn't..not even close. the reason you people piss me off is because when you have too high of expectations for a movie, you tend to feel let down..on the other hand, if everyone would have said how *beep* this movie was, i would have probably still rented it, and liked it a lot more because i wasn't expecting so much.

It's very peculiar.

This movie has it's fans. On another site I saw several people proclaim their love for this, you can see some archived threads on here from people who have this as one of their favourite horror movies of all time and I even saw one guy on another site mention that his horror buff friend considers this to be the greatest horror movie of all time.

This movie obviously made something of an impact on kids back in the late 80s/early 90s who rented it on VHS. Some strong nostalgia going on here. It has to be that because the only other consideration would be that they're trolling us.

I'm a glass half full kind of movie guy and I adore a lot of low budget horror flicks from the 80s but I'm bewildered that this is the movie people are praising so much.
