Hopefully a remake!!

I'm one of the people who are 'iffy' when it comes to remakes, but I think this had a great concept and with CGI now this could become a really good/creepy film. For instance when the dude is stuffed with straw. I really like this film and am excited it is coming out on DVD. I have a transfered dvd from tape which kinda sux, so I'm stoked!!!

Anyone else think a remake could be kewl?

reply

Remake would be cool...but no CGI! Maybe for the like the plane scenes and stuff...but go old school gore and guts for the special effects. I think this film could be really badass if they remade well. The plot was awesome.

If it gets remade, Alexandre Aja or Darren Lynn Bousman should direct.

Fango announced in the Sept. issue it is being remade and widely released. Original director is directing

reply

Screw re-makes. They almost always suck(let's see Black Christmas, Halloween, Psycho, Hellraiser etc. etc.). Let's just leave this gem as it is.

The Hellraiser remake isn't out yet and you're saying it sucks?

I thought the Halloween remake was great. And i loved the old one.

reply

That new Halloween had nothing on the old one and it justs goes to show you Zombie lucked out on Devil's Rejects, cause his other 2 are garbage. His Halloween was so painful to watch & so truly awful that I thought Eli Roth directed it.

Seriously, will every film of his be about white trash? Move on will ya?

damn your so stupid, i can't believe an actual human being would say that..you are a real human being...right??

Hey sydefect,

Is your negativity a 'side effect' from being touched by daddy?

Some of us just type thoughts as they come and don't care much about how it sounds. To answer your question, No I am not human...I'm the Master from Last Dragon and the fortune I see before me is: This post is in reply to a jacka$$.

Happy New Year!

hahaha he's been touched by daddy

That is actually a very good point you have there...the same director is doing it, maybe he gets a better budget and can use better effects(not CGI though) I'm down with that. I do agree most of the horror I like donesn't have CGI or at least not much to the naked eye.

It never ceases to amaze me how many mindless dickheads there are who, upon exposure to a good film, immediately start exuberating about how cool it would be if somebody remade it.

Hollywood remakes are *never* done because they think they can improve on the artistic vision of the original. They are done because they think the original film's "cult" following will be fooled into thinking their attempted cash cow is at least as good. It never is, e.g. The Hitcher, The Wicker Man, etc. I don't think I can recall one remake that wasn't an insult to the original.

reply

The Thing? In my opinion crushed the original.

reply

I agree, the new Thing was much better.

Yeah some remakes are crap, some are okay, and some are really good. I think that can be said about movies in general, not just remakes. He are some that I think are as good, if not better than the originals.

The Thing
Dawn of the Dead
King Kong '05
Hills Have Eyes
Toolbox Murders
The Fly
The Blob

"Carol Anne, go into the light"!

Regarding that list of remakes I agree with:

The Fly
The Thing
Tool box Murders (as i could of made a better film then the orignal)

Not the rest, tho T.H.H.E and the blob were good.

There are some good Remakes but most are dreadful, Its good having Gore and Violence, but being a massive fan of Horror Films give me Suspence and Atmosphere anytime (sorry about my spelling lol)

I just saw April Fools Day remake which was awful 3/10

Looking forward to Prom Night and also The Orphanage!!!

Look at how many remakes there are, now look at how many of those that are better than the original/or are good films...a very small amount, IMO.

Sure Scarecrows could be the next John Carpenter's The Thing, or even Dawn of the Dead '04...but most likely it will just be another Prom Night/Black Christmas/American remake of a Japanese horror film.

The film would probably be casted with bland CW casted teens/20-somethings, filled wall to wall with Top 40 music, we'd get a needless(probably silly)back story about the 3 farmers.

Hey, this guy's not gonna leak all over my ice cream, is he?

reply

This film doesn't need a remake; it's fine the way it is.
