remake of scarecrows

i know everyone hates remakes, but i saw scarecrows last night on showtime, and it is interesting that the scarecrows tune the bank robbers into zombie like scarecrows, and what would a remake of scarecrows would be like

reply

i agree, this was a creepy zombie like movie and deserves a remake.

A remake of this fine fright film would be terrible. For starters, they would cast a bunch of shallow pretty boy actors and equally plastic hot babe actress in the leads. Moreover, the filmmakers would make the crucial error of exactly explaining the origin of the scarecrows. What makes this film so excellent is both the eerie vagueness of the plot and the refreshing ordinariness of most of the cast, two sterling virtues which are grossly lacking in a majority of current horror features.

While I was watching it I kept thinking a remake of this would be awesome.

well i would want to see some unknowns in a remake,

Unknowns is the way to do it. No A-List actors/directors. No MTV driven soundtrack. No mega budget. Just a small cast/crew, a low budget, and tons of creepy atmosphere.

Unknowns are ok, just make sure the budget is fixed and not excessive. No way to make back any type of income if it is 10+ mil. It would take a bit of timing and the right mood of the country. Or a sacrifice approach like the Spierig Brothers in Undead. They put a LOT of un-accounted time in on that film.

I personally don't think a remake would work. You can take a simple theme and retread it anymore. The whole success is the quiet simplicity of it. Much much simpler less noisy times is what helped it catch a niche. Classic example of The Haunting (63 vs 99). Sad.
